Aether Stories: Coming Home

Sometimes, home finds you.

When Daniel Hicks boarded the westbound train from Kansas City to Denver, he didn't expect trouble. As fate would have it, the gunslinger wasn't surprised it found him. He was just surprised it came in the package of a girl traveling to Denver to meet the father who had abandoned her. Ariana Smith was a tightly wound child looking for a protector on the ride and she chose him. As the mechanical enforcement bots rolled down the aisle looking for a runaway, he realized he had to choose between the morality of protecting the child or turning her over to the authorities. Would both of them learn that, sometimes, home wasn't a place, but a feeling?
